Kilimanjaro
Mountain
Africa's highest mountain has snow on top, close to the equator.
Kilimanjaro in Tanzania is 5,895 metres high: the highest mountain in Africa. It is a volcano that stands all by itself on the plain, not part of a mountain range.
On the way up you walk through five different worlds: farmland, rainforest, heath, bare desert and finally ice. The top is called Uhuru Peak. Uhuru means freedom in Swahili.
