Congo River
River
The deepest river in the world, through the heart of Africa.
The Congo flows for about 4,700 kilometres in a great curve through Central Africa. On its way it crosses the equator twice.
In places the river is more than 220 metres deep: deeper than any other. Around it grows the second-largest rainforest on Earth, after the Amazon.
