Angkor Wat
Ancient site
The largest temple complex in the world, in the Cambodian jungle.
Angkor Wat in Cambodia was built in the twelfth century by the Khmer king Suryavarman II. It began as a Hindu temple and later became a Buddhist one.
Five towers shaped like lotus buds rise in the middle. Around the temple runs a moat 190 metres wide. The Cambodians are so proud of it that it is on their flag.
