Aconcagua
Mountain
The highest mountain in the world outside Asia.
Aconcagua rises 6,961 metres in the Andes of Argentina, close to the border with Chile. It is the highest point of the Americas and of the whole southern half of the world.
You need no ropes for the usual route, but it is no easy walk: the air is thin, it can be thirty degrees below zero and the wind is fierce. Many who try have to turn back.
