Lake Titicaca
Water
A lake as big as a small sea, high in the Andes.
Lake Titicaca lies 3,812 metres above the sea, on the border of Peru and Bolivia. It is the highest lake in the world on which large ships sail.
On the lake live the Uros, on islands they build themselves from reeds. The reeds rot from below, so new layers are laid on top all the time. Their boats and houses are made of the same reeds.
