Uluru
Nature
A giant red rock in the heart of Australia.
Uluru is one enormous block of sandstone in the middle of Australia. It rises 348 metres above the plain and it is 9.4 kilometres to walk around. Most of the rock is under the ground.
For the Anangu, who have lived here for tens of thousands of years, Uluru is a sacred place. Out of respect for them, climbing the rock has not been allowed since 2019.
