Dead Sea
Water
A lake so salty that you float without trying.
The Dead Sea is not a sea but a lake, between Jordan, Israel and the West Bank. Its shore lies about 430 metres below sea level: the lowest dry land on Earth.
The water is almost ten times as salty as the ocean. That makes it so heavy that you float on it like a cork. No fish can live in it, which is how it got its name.
