Teotihuacan
Ancient site
A city of pyramids so old that even the Aztecs did not know who built it.
Around the year 400 Teotihuacan was one of the largest cities in the world, with perhaps a hundred thousand people. A broad avenue runs through it, with a great pyramid at the end and a greater one beside it.
Then the city was abandoned. When the Aztecs found the ruins centuries later, they thought only gods could have built them, and gave the place its name: where the gods were made.
