Geysir
Nature
The hot spring that gave every geyser its name.
In a valley in Iceland the ground steams and bubbles. One spring here, Geysir, used to shoot boiling water 70 metres into the air. The word geyser, in almost every language, comes from its name.
Geysir itself now sleeps most of the time. Its neighbour Strokkur does the work: every five to ten minutes it throws a column of water high into the air.

Icelanders use the same heat from under the ground to warm their houses.
